Palestine and Israel: The ongoing past in the present – Perspectives, history, future
The section of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Ghent University is organizing an informative event in light of the current escalation of violence in Gaza. The double event kicks off with the screening of the documentary 1948: Creation and Catastrophe by Andy Trimlett, Ahlam Muhtaseb and others, offering a critical exploration of historical contexts that remain deeply relevant today. https://www.1948movie.com/
The roundtable following the documentary aims to foster an open dialogue, providing a platform for diverse perspectives. In the wake of ongoing conflict, the discussion will address the violations of international law, geopolitical complexities, the role of art and the quest for sustainable peace in the region. Scholars, experts, and attendees are encouraged to engage in a thoughtful exchange of ideas.
